APPLYING FOR PROBATE - COST OF REGISTRY APPLICATION FEES
In all cases where the net estate
(i.e. the amount remaining in the deceased's sole name after funeral expenses & debts owing have been deducted)
is over £5,000 the cost of the probate fee is

Send a cheque or postal order (no cash) made payable to 'HMCS' or 'Her Majesty's Courts (this will be
clarified on the documentation) together with your
Probate Registry application forms. You should
state the number and type of copies you need on the checklist on page 4 of the
PA1 (application form).
Print the name of the deceased person
on the back of the cheque.
Ensure you order sufficient copies for all
your needs, when you send in your application.
Your application will not be processed
until the fee is paid.
